About the Park

South Platt Street (Fox Hill) Park offers visitors year-round recreational opportunities. During the warm months, visitors can utilize sporting fields/courts and a playground. During the cold months, visitors can participate in sledding and skating on the seasonal ice rink. Park-goers at South Platt Street Park may also enjoy the sound and scenic view of the Saranac River just to the north.

Kate Woodward Trombley3 years ago I think this plan is absolutely gorgeous. I love the fishing pier, the rain garden, and the gazebo. The playground plan looks amazing but I would like to see 1-2 baby/adult swings - it is one swing that has a baby seat attached to a frame so a parent and child can face each other and swing together. A handicap swing? I would also like to see park benches, waste receptacles, dog waste bags, and perhaps a few splash pad fountains like in Betty Little Park? I am very happy to see a bathroom…perhaps piping could be plumbed from there for a season splash pad. The downtown splash pad has REALLY brought families in - it would nice to see the often forgotten South end have something to like this. The plans are truly beautiful!

elisha bartlett3 years ago It's great to see some of the unique attributes of this park highlighted in this plan such as: the riverfront with a fishing dock (so cool), a forested trail that isn't a boring out and back, and a natural play area to allow the kids to run free while we get our walk in, and the classic sledding hill. These elements tapped the true identity of the Park. I can't wait to visit when its complete!

Jonathan McDonald3 years ago My initial thoughts after reviewing all park proposals:It's evident these plans are well thought out.I like that each space has some crossover utility with the other parks while maintaining their own unique feel.I think an overarching detail that would enhance the city and access to these parks is the ability to walk/ride from anywhere within the city.I'd be curious to know more of the overall thought process behind each parks development. I like the ovals themed playground, is there space and history to do the same for other parks?I'd like to see more trees scattered throughout the parks.
