Margaret Street Project - Design
About the Project
The utilities beneath Margaret Street, Court Street, and Brinkerhoff Street within the primary study area are deteriorating, aging, and not working as they once did. The aging infrastructure is in need of replacement. The existing public utilities including storm sewer system, sanitary sewer mains, and water mains are to be replaced. The City is looking to be proactive and replace these utilities that have aged out or deteriorated before more breaks, backups, and disruptions occur.
Due to the construction impacts and roadway disruptions required when replacing utilities, which include deep excavations and replacement of laterals to individual properties, the work will require the reconstruction of Margaret Street throughout the primary study area. This work is the motivator for this project, using the need for urgent infrastructure replacement work as an opportunity to reimagine the Margaret Street corridor as a treasured community asset.
