Saranac River Trail Phase III Project
The City of Plattsburgh is advancing the Saranac River Trail Phase III Project (PIN 7806.61), the third and final phase of the City’s planned waterfront trail system along the Saranac River.
Phase III will complete a continuous multi-use trail connection between the existing Plattsburgh Riverwalk, Bridge Street, Green Street, and Peace Point Park. This project will provide improved bicycle and pedestrian access to the Saranac River and Lake Champlain waterfront, while enhancing safety and mobility along key downtown corridors.
Macdonough Park Flood Resiliency Improvements
The City of Plattsburgh is launching a major infrastructure and climate adaptation project at Macdonough Park. As a centerpiece of our downtown and a key part of the riverfront trail network, Macdonough Park is a vital historic and recreational resource. However, repeated flooding, erosion, and ice-jam damage have threatened the stability of the park and the safety of its visitors.
This project will modernize the park’s defenses against nature while enhancing its beauty and accessibility for all residents.
Cornelia St. (NY Route 3) Reconstruction
The City of Plattsburgh is undertaking a comprehensive reconstruction of the Cornelia Street corridor to transform it into a safer, more efficient, and multi-modal route for all users. Identified as a priority in the 2019 Smart Growth Plan, this project addresses outdated infrastructure, gaps in sidewalks, and a high historical crash rate.
